This project started when I got wind of the recall Ford had for the 2011-2019 Explorer rear toe link.  Started doing research to see if there was anything good aftermarket and found that Steeda made some stuff!  Ended up with not only the rear toe links but the rear trailing arms AND the rear sway bar.

Awesome and easy!  Thanks goes out to Nocturnal Performance and their installation video.

Comparison of the stock vs Steeda trailing arms.
Installed.

Rear sway bar install video:

For those wondering about fitment on other vehicles, I can tell you that between 2009 and 2019, Ford used only 2 different part numbers for rear sway bars on these vehicles and their trim levels:

  • Ford Explorer (and PIU variant)
  • Ford Taurus (and PIS variant)
  • Ford Flex
  • Lincoln MKS
  • Lincoln MKT

It was either BB5Z-5A772-A or AA8Z-5A772-C. When doing research, I found that Ford/Lincoln even used either one within the same year and trim level. The one found on the Explorer is the first one, however. That being said, I can tell you it is HIGHLY likely that this rear sway bar will fit all the above vehicles from 2009-2019. With that, it has been speculated that the Steeda sway arm may be TOO stiff for some of the other platforms, however, I can’t attest to that as I have never tried it on these other platforms.
